Almost Normal 2011 Fall/Winter Collection
Florence Yip, and her upstart brand Almost Normal make a splash for their fall 2011 line up of products. Still in a trial phase. Almost Normal believes they have found the right tone for this season with their wares. Specifically, this year it’s all about the Owl. A weird enigmatic bird that lends itself to all manner of inspiration because of their unique looks, and actions; like turning their heads around 360 degrees…Yeah. Almost Normal takes these attributes, and odditities, imbueing a sense of style that captures what the brand wants to achieve. One look at what they have to offer, the word different comes to mind. In a good way. Owl sounds about right for that type direction don’t you think? With help from her husband noted for his own legendary creative work, Michael Lau collaborates with Florence to really execute the vision in a productive way that lends character to this years line. Starting with watches, each one unique, detailed with personality, and distinct in their design. All offer accessory compliments that make it part of your fashion ‘thing’ to do. She also features figurines which are pretty dynamic reminding one of a super hero group, but with Owls instead of meta humans in tights. Everything in the collection stands out. Expect to see more diversification in products from the label as try to take this Owl creative as far as they ca go for the brand.
Florence Yip in an interview with hypebeast.com sums up her philosophy behind the concept, and design of her new line.
“ I also introduced some philosophical ideas into the mix. For example, when you look at your watch, you can only really see the strap that is closest to you, while others can see the strap that is on the other side of the watch. The idea is about how people see you and how you see yourself, as it can be different. We wanted the design to be classic and unisex and with close inspection, one can pick out the different unique elements that weâve added in. It also stays true to the brandâs philosophy,[“Almost Normal.â] “
ACTION BRONSON & STATIK SELEKTAH – NOT ENOUGH WORDS
The latest single from Action Bronson and Statik Selektah’s upcoming collabo album. Aptly titled “Well Done”. The rap artists bring their gusto style together to. Both have been growing notoriety for the collabs the two do. So it’s fitting to see a project emerge from them. Especially Action who’s pushing this ’ Other white boy’ era as much as anyone we can think of. The album drops the 22nd of this month.

Does Jay-Z Have An Occupy Wall Street Hustle?
Seems the “God MC” perhaps may be a greedy leech if reports are true that he has created a line of t-shirts that profit from the protests that are happening down in New York City’s Wall Street district. Monikered “Occupy All Streets”; Jay-Z fashion imprint Rocawear has them currently available for pre-order via their website. What is unclear, and is more than warranted the benefit of the doubt for Jay-Z is whether or not the proceeds of said merchandise will be giving, split, or fund the cause. One would hope that there is an explanation, and one that is not oppourtunistic soley from Jay-z on the subject. Money is money, but you can’t accept every dollar.

D Wade has definitely become one of the fashion icons in the new NBA. In an era of super athletes on super teams. No one puts on a show like D Wade. Since the NBA lockout draws on, and a season hangs in the balance. It’s a good thing that Miami’s #3 is busy. He has a partnership with Hublot as a brand ambassador. Currently they are working with the super star NBA baller to release a “D-Wade” King Power model watch. The 48mm black, micro-blasted ceramic case features a “basketball effect” on the face and strap stitching. If it reminds you of a basketball net, then you get the toy in the box association. You will find the design use of Wade’s # 3 deliberately detailed into the piece. This is a one off piece as only 500 watches will be brought to existence. Proceeds for this luxury watch go towards Wade’s ‘The Wade World Foundation’.

The new Lebron 9 color way comes in Black synthetic, complimented with silver and orange trim. Orange being a favorite color of mine is prominent on the sneaker. You can see it i the Swoosh, midsole, and areas where the branding is as well. Mind you this may not be a sneaker to floss in, but depending on your style, and focus.

This is the first time we’ve ever posted anything on biking. Let alone a bike helmet. Well this one is interesting, and it’s been brought to us by the fine folks @ Gucci. I dig the helmet. I doubt I’d ride bikes with them on though. I’ll think of something to tell my girl. Teaming up with Italian bike manufacturer, Bianchi. The Gucci style imprint is all over signature. Right down to the leather straps. Made for comfort, and stunting. USD $890, the helmet releases in two sizes, medium and large. For you collectors; these are one of a kind pieces. Gucci!
